Nestled within the spectacular landscape of Dunkeld, this home was carefully designed to respond to both the client's lifestyle requirements and the breathtaking views of the Grampians National Park.
The design brief called for a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home with a separate multi-purpose area, providing flexibility for work, recreation, guest accommodation, or future changing needs. A key design objective was to create a highly efficient and adaptable floor plan, with zoning that allows sections of the home to be closed off when not in use, reducing energy consumption while enhancing comfort throughout the seasons.
The home's layout has been thoughtfully arranged to ensure that every room captures views of the Grampians, creating a constant connection to the surrounding landscape and allowing natural light to fill the interior spaces. Large windows frame the dramatic mountain vistas, bringing the outdoors into everyday living.
Complementing the home's regenerative and environmentally conscious ethos, the client—an experienced horticulturalist—has invested significant time and care into establishing a native Australian landscape. The planting design celebrates local biodiversity, supports native wildlife, and seamlessly integrates the home within its natural setting. Together, the architecture and landscape create a harmonious environment that reflects a shared commitment to sustainability, resilience, and connection to place.
